Needs Review Workflow

How to work through cards flagged for manual review β€” approve, edit, or reject AI identifications efficiently.

Last updated: 2026-03-16App version: 1.0+

Overview

When RocketAI isn't fully confident in a card identification, it sends the card to Needs Review instead of marking it ready to list. This protects you from listing errors β€” a misidentified parallel or wrong player name can mean a big pricing mistake.

The Needs Review page is your quality-control checkpoint. Work through it regularly to keep your pipeline flowing.

The Needs Review queue β€” cards that need your attention before they can be listed

Why Cards Go to Review

Cards are flagged for review when any of the following are true:

TriggerWhy It Matters
Low confidence scoreRocketAI wasn't sure about the identification (below your configured threshold)
Autograph detectedAutographed cards need verification because they carry significant premiums
Memorabilia detectedGame-used material cards need manual confirmation
Parallel uncertaintyA parallel was detected but the exact variant isn't certain
High estimated valueCards above your value threshold (default: $50) get flagged so you can verify before listing
OCR issuesThe card text was hard to read (damage, glare, low image quality)

Adjust Your Threshold

You can change the confidence threshold and value trigger in Settings β†’ Review. A lower confidence threshold means fewer cards go to review (faster pipeline) but more risk of errors. A higher threshold is safer but requires more manual work.

Working Through the Queue

Open Needs Review

Click Needs Review in the sidebar under Inventory, or click the yellow Needs Review banner on the Dashboard.

Review the Identification

For each card, you'll see:

  • The original front and back images side by side
  • RocketAI's best identification (player, year, set, card number, parallel)
  • A confidence indicator showing how sure the AI was
  • The suggested market price based on the identification

Take Action

You have three options:

  • Approve β€” The identification is correct. Click Approve to move the card to Ready for Listing.
  • Edit & Approve β€” Some fields need correction. Fix them (e.g., change the parallel from "Base" to "Refractor"), then approve. Pricing updates automatically.
  • Reject β€” The card image is unusable or it's not a sports card. Rejecting removes it from your inventory.

Move to the Next Card

After each action, the next card in the queue loads automatically. Keep going until the queue is clear.

Bulk Review Tips

If you have a large queue (50+ cards), use these strategies:

  • Sort by confidence β€” Start with the highest-confidence cards. These are most likely correct and can be approved quickly.
  • Filter by sport or brand β€” Review similar cards together for faster pattern recognition.
  • Use keyboard shortcuts β€” Arrow keys navigate between cards, Enter approves, and Escape skips to the next card.
  • Batch approve β€” If you can see from the grid view that a batch of cards is correctly identified, select them all and approve in bulk from the Cards page using the bulk status action.
ℹ️

Don't Let the Queue Build Up

A large review queue means cards are sitting unpriced and unlisted. Aim to clear your review queue at least once a day if you're an active seller. Many users review cards right after each upload batch finishes processing.

What Happens After Review

Once you approve a card:

  1. Its status changes to Ready for Listing (or Ready β€” High Value for cards priced at $50+)
  2. Pricing is confirmed or refreshed based on the final identification
  3. The card appears in your main inventory and is eligible for eBay listing
  4. If you have automation rules set up, the card may be auto-listed

Common Questions

Can I reprocess a card instead of manually correcting it? Yes. If the image quality is decent but the AI got it wrong, click Reprocess on the card detail page. This runs a fresh AI analysis. See the Reprocessing Cards guide for details.

What if I'm not sure about the identification? Look at the card images carefully and compare with the suggested identification. You can also search the Card Catalog to find the correct match. When in doubt, approve with your best guess β€” you can always edit later.

Do reviewed cards get re-identified automatically? No. Once you approve a card, the identification is locked. RocketAI's background enrichment may add supplementary data (like updated pricing or catalog links), but won't change your approved identification.
