Overview

RocketVault automatically prices your cards using real market data. Pricing is pulled from the RocketVault Pricing Database β€” a comprehensive database of sports card market values β€” with eBay recent sales as a fallback for cards not in the primary database.

Watch: How RocketVault prices your cards using real market data

When a card is identified, RocketVault looks up its market value through a multi-step process:

RocketVault Pricing Database Lookup

First, the card is matched against the RocketVault Pricing Database, which tracks real market values for millions of cards. This provides the most accurate, up-to-date pricing based on actual sales data.

eBay Market Data (Fallback)

If the card isn't found in the primary database, RocketVault searches eBay for comparable sales and current listings. It calculates a median price from recent data to give you a fair market estimate.

Smart Pricing Rules (Final Fallback)

For very obscure cards with no market data available, RocketVault applies intelligent pricing rules based on:

  • Card type (base, rookie, insert, parallel)
  • Player status (star, veteran, rookie)
  • Scarcity (serial numbering, print run)
  • Special attributes (autograph, memorabilia)

Understanding Price Fields

Automatic Pricing

New cards are automatically priced during the upload/identification process. You only need to use bulk pricing to refresh prices on existing cards or to price cards that initially had no data available.

ℹ️

Batch Limits by Plan

Bulk reprice batch sizes vary by plan: Collector can reprice 50 cards at a time, Seller can reprice 500 at a time, and Pro has unlimited batch sizes. Free plan users have access to basic SCP pricing but not bulk reprice. Multi-source pricing lookups are limited to 10/month on the Free plan and unlimited on all paid plans.

Pricing Accuracy

RocketVault pricing is based on real market data, but keep in mind:

  • No price is guaranteed β€” Market values fluctuate with demand, player performance, and market trends
  • Condition matters β€” Prices assume near-mint condition for raw cards. Damaged cards will sell for less.
  • Parallel accuracy β€” Correctly identifying the exact parallel is crucial for accurate pricing. A base card and a Gold /50 parallel of the same player can differ by 100x in value.
⚠️

Always Verify High-Value Cards

For cards valued at $50 or more, we recommend verifying the identification and pricing before listing. Check the card detail page to confirm the correct player, year, set, and parallel are selected.

Common Questions

Why does my card show "No Price Available"? Some obscure cards or very recent releases may not yet have market data. You can set a manual price on the card detail page, or wait and refresh pricing later as more sales data becomes available.

How often are prices updated? The RocketVault Pricing Database is updated continuously. You can refresh individual card prices at any time, or use bulk pricing to update your entire inventory.

Can I set my own prices? Absolutely. The market price is a starting point. You can override the suggested price when creating listings. Many sellers add a margin above market value or price for quick sale below market.
