Creating Lots

Bundle multiple cards into lots for sale. Build, split, and bulk-publish lots to eBay.

LAST UPDATED · 2026-05-01APP · 1.0+

Overview

Lots let you bundle multiple cards together for sale as a single listing. This is great for moving lower-value cards in bulk, creating team lots, or putting together themed packages that attract buyers.

Plan Requirement

Lot management requires the Seller plan ($39/mo) or higher.

The Lots Page

Click Lots in the sidebar to open the lots dashboard. The page is tab-based:

  • All — every lot except archived ones.
  • Drafts — lots you've built but not yet listed.
  • Listed — lots currently live on eBay.
  • Sold — lots that closed with a sale.
  • Archived — soft-deleted lots, kept for history.

Each tab shows a count derived from backend stats so the numbers are always accurate. Sort controls at the top let you sort by created, updated, price, card count, or name — ascending or descending. The search bar filters by lot name.

Watch: Building and publishing a lot in RocketVault

Step 01

Click New Lot

On the Lots page, click New Lot. A two-option dialog opens: Manual (you build the lot yourself) or AI Smart Builder (RocketAI proposes lots based on your inventory). Pick Manual for the steps below. AI Smart Builder is covered in its own section further down.

Step 02

Set the metadata

Fill in:

  • Name — the user-visible lot name and the eBay listing title (RocketAI can regenerate this once you've added cards).
  • Description — rich-text editor (TipTap WYSIWYG); becomes the eBay listing description.
  • Sport — narrows the available-cards picker to one sport. Optional.

Step 03

Add cards

Below the metadata, the available cards grid shows everything in your inventory that isn't already in another active lot. Filter by search, sport, price range, serial number range, year range, and attribute toggles (insert, parallel, rookie, autograph). Click cards to add them; selected cards move into the lot summary on the right.

The selection checkbox stays visible on hover, so you can pick cards quickly without losing your spot.

Step 04

Set discount or override price

The lot summary calculates the total individual value automatically. From there you can:

  • Discount by percentage — e.g. "20% off the sum of individual values."
  • Discount by fixed amount — e.g. "$5 off."
  • Override the final price — type a price directly.

Step 05

Save draft or publish

  • Save draft — keeps the lot in DRAFT status; it shows up on the Drafts tab of the Lots page.
  • Publish to eBay — opens the publish panel. Pick fulfillment, payment, and return policies (or use your saved defaults), set listing format (fixed price or auction), shipping service and cost, Best Offer thresholds, and Promoted Listings ad rate. Click Publish to send the lot to eBay.

Lot images and collage

Each lot publishes with images sourced from the cards it contains. You can:

  • Pick a primary image — usually the headline card.
  • Toggle a lot collage — RocketVault generates a collage of the lot's cards. You choose whether the collage goes in the primary image slot (first thing eBay buyers see) or the last slot (after the individual card photos).

The collage choice is saved on the lot row, so it survives a page reload and you can flip it without re-saving the rest of the form.

AI Smart Builder

If you'd rather have RocketAI propose lots for you, pick AI Smart Builder from the New Lot dialog. The Assistant scans your available inventory and returns a set of suggested lots — each with a name, card list, suggested discount, and a draft description.

Filters at the top of the modal:

  • Strategy — narrow suggestions to one of: Player, Team, Year, Type, or All. "All" lets the model decide which framing fits best for each suggestion.
  • Sport — restrict to a single sport.
  • Custom prompt (optional) — describe your ideal lots in plain English, e.g. "rookie autos under $50" or "big football team lots, 30+ cards each."

Working through suggestions:

Each suggestion appears as a card with the cards it contains, the calculated lot value, and the proposed discount. From a suggestion you can:

  • Accept — the lot is created on the spot and lands in your Drafts tab.
  • Edit — tweak the name, discount %, or description before accepting. The card list itself is fixed per suggestion.
  • Reject — drop the suggestion from the list.
  • Bulk-create accepted suggestions — once you've accepted several, use the footer button to mint them all at once.

You can iterate on filters and prompts to get a different set of suggestions. Suggestions are scoped to cards in your AVAILABLE inventory that aren't already in another active lot, so the same card never gets double-claimed.

Splitting a Lot

If a lot has grown too big to be attractive (50+ cards rarely sells well), break it apart with the split tool.

Step 01

Open the lot

From the Lots page, click into the lot to open the lot builder.

Step 02

Click Split Lot

The split modal opens with two empty groups by default. Each group will become a new lot.

Step 03

Assign cards to groups

Move cards from the unassigned column into the groups. Add more groups if you need more than two splits. Name each group — the name becomes the new lot's name (defaults to "Original lot - Part 1", "Part 2", etc.).

Step 04

Choose what to do with the original

By default, the Archive original checkbox is on, so the source lot moves to Archived after the split. Uncheck it if you'd rather delete or keep the original.

Step 05

Confirm

Click Split to create the new lots. They land on the Drafts tab of the Lots page, ready to publish individually.

Managing Lots

From the Lots page, you can:

  • Edit — open the lot builder and change any field, add/remove cards.
  • Split — break a lot into smaller lots (above).
  • Merge — combine multiple lots into one. Select two or more lots and use the merge action.
  • Archive — soft-delete a lot without removing the cards from inventory.
  • Delete — permanently remove a lot.
  • Bulk publish — select multiple draft lots and publish them all at once.
  • Bulk archive / delete — multi-select for cleanup.

Common Questions

Can one card be in multiple lots? No — once a card is added to a lot, it's reserved for that lot. Remove it from the current lot before adding it to a different one. This is enforced server-side so two lots can't accidentally claim the same card.

What happens to individual card listings when I add cards to a lot? If a card has an active individual eBay listing, the lot publish flow will warn you. End the individual listing before adding the card to a lot to avoid double-selling. Conversely, when you publish cards individually from the AVAILABLE tab, the bulk publish modal warns you if any of the cards are part of a lot and offers to remove them from the lot first.

Can I bulk-publish multiple lots? Yes. Select multiple lots on the Lots page (or the Drafts tab) and use the Bulk publish action to list them all at once.

What are the lot status values? DRAFT (saved but not listed), READY_TO_LIST (queued for publish), LISTED (live on eBay), SOLD (closed with a sale), ARCHIVED (soft-deleted).

How do I track a published lot's eBay status? Once a lot is published, its status (Listed, Sold) and eBay item ID surface on the lot row in the Listed / Sold tabs of the Lots page. Click into the lot to open it in eBay or to manage the underlying listing.
